HSIE, Years 7 to 10

History, Geography, Commerce and the wider HSIE faculty, with an emphasis on source analysis, structured writing and exam preparation.

The habits that produce Band 6 responses in Year 12 are built in Years 7 to 10. Junior students are taught how to read a source, plan a paragraph, use evidence and answer the question that was actually asked.

Sessions can follow the student's school program directly, target a specific assessment task, or build the underlying writing and analysis skills that make the senior years far less difficult.

What sessions cover

Source analysis, reliability and usefulness, historical argument and extended response structure.

Geography

Skills, data interpretation, fieldwork reports and structured written responses.
